Cofechyrch
This strange building seems to be a relic from an earlier
age, but nobody knows precisely what its purpose or origin was.
The name comes from an old noticeboard at the gate from which
most of the paint has peeled. The derivation is uncertain and academics are divided
on whether or not it means The House of Coffee [Cornish Chy = house + COFE]
Inside the building, there are many rows of seats and an enormous
organ at one end, but there is no mechanism for raising and lowering it into the
floor and that would limit any organ's suitability for the purposes of entertainment.
Whether it was an ancient spaceport, a place of ritual sacrifice,
a monumental calendar, slide rule or Bingo Hall, we'll probably never find out,
but the enormous ritual image of a primitive thermometer found nailed to one of
its walls have led scientists to ignore the seats and plumbing and theorise that
it may have once been a gigantic oven.
