New magazine goes on sale to encourage "self-expression"

In a major departure for a Government ministry, the Department of Social Scrutiny is delighted to announce the acquisition and re-launch of a magazine publishing business.

Alan Bladder, the Minister for Truth and Other Information, part of the Department, defended the controversial decision.

"The purchase of Wankers' Forum at last enables us to keep track on the poetically disaffected, historically a major target in the War On Thought. As soon as these 'creative' types realise they have a responsibility to stop whining about mist and comparing everything to the weather, the better. We have taken legal advice and are apparently quite within our rights to buy publications and media outlets in order to modernise them into promoting our point of view. That's all I have to say at this time, now fuck off."
